Swansea City have been ‘rebuffed’ in a bid to sign Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro, according to the Daily Mail.

The Sun reported on Monday that Swansea were readying a club-record £25 million bid for the Frenchman, who has made just 10 starts this season.

But while the Sun also claimed Gameiro would be cleared to leave as Atletico ‘balance the books’, the Daily Mail reports otherwise.

According to them, the Spanish side are reluctant to sell Gameiro this month, while the player would prefer to join a top-six club.

Swansea, who are bottom of the Premier League table and four points adrift of safety, have yet to add to their squad since appointing Carlos Carvalhal as manager.

The Portuguese is also said to have enquired about the availability of Gameiro’s Atletico teammate Nicolas Gaitan, an attacking midfield player.
