Tony Gallacher’s performances for Falkirk reportedly attracted the interest of Manchester United and Barcelona – but Swansea City are leading the chase.
The impressive youth academy at Falkirk perhaps doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Yet, Swansea City are fully aware of the talents on offer and are set to try and bring a third Falkirk starlet to the Liberty Stadium.
Jay Fulton and Stephen Kingsley (below), who recently left for Hull City, never quite lived up to expectations in South Wales so time will tell whether Tony Gallacher could make the grade.
According to the Scottish Sun, the 18-year-old left-back has piqued Swansea’s interest after earning rave reviews above the border with Falkirk. He made his first team debut at just 16 and has developed into a regular member of the starting XI, featuring nine times this season.
The Glasgow-born youngster would represent something of a coup for Swansea despite the fact he is far from a household name. After all, Paul Clement’s side are not the only one to take an interest in one of Scotland’s most exciting young talents in recent times.
The Scottish Sun reported earlier in the year that Gallacher had been linked with a dream move to La Liga giants Barcelona while Herald Scotland claimed interest from both Rangers and Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United (below).
However, Swansea could represent a far more beneficial move for the teenager, who needs to play regular football is he is to fulfil his potential.
The Swans could do with cover for first-choice Marcus Olsson as they are yet to replace long-serving Neil Taylor, who moved to Aston Villa in January as part of the deal that brought Jordan Ayew to the Liberty.
