Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins is reported by The Telegraph to be in conflict with the club’s new American owners over the club’s manager.

The paper report Jenkins wants to axe current boss Francesco Guidolin, and replace him with Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.

Yet his plan has been blocked by US owners Steve Kaplan and Jason Levein, who want to give Guidolin more time before making a managerial change, just five games into the Premier League season.

Jenkins has had to shelve plans to hold talks with Giggs, and while they could be revisited, for now the option is on hold.

Swansea have had a mixed start to the season, while impressive in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea, they have just one win and four total points from five games, and sit in 15th position.

Last night they were eliminated from the EFL Cup by losing 2-1 to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Potential boss Ryan Giggs has not held such a role permanently before, but worked as assistant boss at Manchester United to David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

He managed United for four games as a caretaker in April to May 2014, and left the club this summer, with United preferring to appoint Jose Mourinho rather than give him the job full time.
