Swansea City look set to sign a Liverpool player as an alternative to Everton’s Sandro.
The Guardian report that Swansea City believed they were in position to take Sandro Ramirez on loan from Everton ahead of Tuesday’s win against Arsenal.
Sandro has since joined Sevilla instead, where he will link up with Swansea’s Roque Mesa until the end of the season.
And according to the Guardian, Carlos Carvalhal’s side have since stepped up their pursuit of Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic, instead, but are only interested in a temporary deal.
Markovic impressed while on loan to Hull City last season, but has failed to make a senior appearance since then.
Sandro struggled to make an impact since his summer move to Everton from Malaga – for whom he scored 16 goals in 2016-17 – and had found himself further out of the picture after the arrivals of Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott at Goodison Park.
Everton landed the 22-year-old for just £5.2 million after triggering his release clause, and according to the Daily Mail, Sevilla have the option to sign him permanently for £7.8 million.
