Swansea have accepted an offer from Tottenham for striker Fernando Llorente, according to the BBC. The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to Chelsea for the past week, but the North London club who reportedly entered the race yesterday for the Spain international seem to have stolen a march on their local rivals.

The report also suggests that Chelsea are likely to make a counter offer for the former Bilbao man, with the outcome difficult to predict.

Although Llorente is yet to start a game for the Swans this season (picking up an injury during the close season), he will be a welcome addition to either squad.

Having scored 15 goals in the Premier League last season (in just 28 starts), his powerful target man presence offers a different option to the guile and shooting ability of main man Harry Kane for Tottenham. He may not be a regular starter for the Spurs, but his experience could prove invaluable as they aim to challenge on two fronts this season.

Llorente has worked with Antonio Conte during the duo’s time together at Turin, where the former Spain international scored 18 goals in his first year in Italy – and Conte’s last in charge before taking over of his country, and the Chelsea manager is well aware of the Spaniard’s quality.
