Toby Alderweireld is out of contract at Tottenham Hotspur at the end of next season.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, there is a suspicion that Toby Alderweireld could be planning to leave Spurs on a free transfer in 12 months rather than leave the club this summer.
The Belgian is heading into the final year of his deal with Tottenham and is available for just £25 million this summer due to a release clause within his contract, the Mail reports.
However, despite talk that he could be Manchester United-bound in the coming months, the Mail suggests that there is a growing feeling that he may end up deciding to stick around for another year before leaving Spurs for nothing when his current deal expires.
It would be a real boost for Mauricio Pochettino to hold onto the 30-year-old beyond this season. After a difficult year previously, the centre-back returned to being a key part of the squad this past campaign as Tottenham went all the way to the Champions League final.

And although losing him for free in 12 months may not be ideal, it would give Spurs some additional time to decide on potential replacements while also perhaps leaving the door open for the club to try and tempt the defender to stick around.
It is going to be a massive window for Tottenham as they look to build on the promise that they have shown this past season. And keeping Alderweireld will certainly go down as one positive this summer should he indeed be looking at staying for one more year.
