Burnley are reportedly hoping to sign West Bromwich Albion star Jay Rodriguez during the January transfer window.

Sean Dyche, Manager of Burnley looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley at Wembley Stadium on August 27, 2017 in London, England.

Burnley are apparently open to considering offers for Ashley Barnes or Sam Vokes as they look to fund a move for West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (23/12; page 61).

Barnes and Vokes sit at the top of the Clarets’ goalscoring charts in the Premier League this season, with both men, along with James Tarkowski, scoring three goals in the top flight.

Surprisingly however, The Sun on Sunday (23/12; page 61) reports that Sean Dyche is thought to be open to the idea of selling either of the two men – though it must be noted that the report states that neither is officially up for sale.

The report suggests that a bid of around £10 million for either player could tempt the Clarets into a sale as they look to get the funds together that will enable them to target former striker Rodriguez, who is performing well in the Championship with the Baggies.

Rodriguez has scored 10 goals in the second tier for Darren Moore’s men to help put them right in the promotion race. But given his connections to Turf Moor, it would be interesting to see what he would prefer to do if Burnley come calling next month.

But it must also be said that it would be a surprise if Dyche was that keen to lose either of his two strikers. The pair have been crucial to the club’s success in recent years, with Barnes and Vokes boasting over 80 league goals between them since they joined Burnley.
