Sunderland are reportedly set to lose teenager Morten Spencer.

According to The Sun, Sunderland teenager Morten Spencer is nearing a move to Manchester City in a deal worth around £200,000.

City have a remarkable youth setup, as their Under-16’s, U14s, U12s and U11s were victorious in the Premier League International Tournament in October.

They may have lost Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund, but Phil Foden is looking to break through at the Etihad Stadium, and they will continue to look for the best young English players to nurture in the coming years.

The Sun now report that City are closing in on a new addition to their youth ranks, with Sunderland’s Morten Spencer believed to be on the verge of a move.

Spencer, 14, is a playmaker or left winger who has seemingly caught City’s eye, and a deal worth around £200,000 in compensation now appears to be close.

That will be another blow for Sunderland, as they have just lost one young talent in Josh Maja, with the striker moving on to French club Bordeaux in the January transfer window.

Spencer won’t even make it to the first team before moving on, unlike Maja, and Sunderland will hope that other talented youngsters like Bali Mumba and Luca Stephenson don’t also move on soon.
