Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke suffered a knee injury against Burton Albion in League One this past weekend.
Sunderland will be without Charlie Wyke for two months, according to The Sunderland Echo.
Wyke suffered a knee injury during Sunderland’s League One match against Burton Albion away from home at the Pirelli Stadium this past weekend.
The 25-year-old striker – who joined the Black Cats from Bradford City in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Northern Echo to be worth £1 million – picked up the injury when he collided with Burton goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov in the 43rd minute.
According to The Sunderland Echo, Wyke has suffered medial ligament damage and will be out for six to eight weeks.
Blow for Sunderland
Wyke is a very good striker and an important player for Sunderland, and the injury suffered by the 25-year-old will come as a blow for the Black Cats.
This means that Sunderland manager Jack Ross is left with two recognised forwards in his squad – Josh Maja and Jerome Sinclair.
Sunderland are fourth in the League One table at the moment with 15 points from eight matches, five points behind leaders Portsmouth.
