Report: Sunderland working on three new signings, as Simon Grayson hopes for more additions

Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is keen to improve his squad at the Stadium of Light.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Sunderland have made signing Robert Snodgrass, Ross McCormack and Grant Leadbitter their top priorities for the remainder of the transfer window.

Sunderland have made a fairly encouraging start to the new campaign, but Grayson is known to want new additions.

And the Northern Echo say that the Sunderland boss is still working on three transfer deals before the close of the transfer window.

Sunderland are thought to want to take Snodgrass, McCormack and Leadbitter, who have all been made available by their respective clubs.

West Ham United are keen to offload Snodgrass, after the Scotland international’s terrible eight months at the London Stadium.

Sunderland are believed to be chasing Snodgrass on a loan deal, but West Ham would prefer to sell the 29-year-old on a permanent basis.

McCormack, meanwhile, has been made available by Aston Villa – with Steve Bruce seemingly writing off the striker’s chances of making a success of his time at Villa Park.

Leadbitter is also thought to be available, with Garry Monk preferring other options ever since taking charge at Middlesbrough.
