Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing Bristol City’s Aden Flint.

According to a report in the Bristol Post, Sunderland are interested in signing Aden Flint from Bristol City, and could offer them Adam Matthews and cash in return.
Matthews had a successful loan spell at Ashton Gate towards the back end of last season, and Lee Johnson is keen to signing the former Celtic man on a permanent deal.

Sunderland are willing to let Matthews leave the Stadium of Light, but they want Flint in return.
Flint has been rock solid in the Robins’ defence since arriving from Swindon Town, and he is a key member of the Championship side’s starting line-up.
Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce believes that Flint could offer competition for his side’s backline, which he is looking to strengthen.

Sunderland’s Younes Kaboul and Lamine Kone have struck up a great partnership in the heart of their defence, but their covering options need to be improved, with many of their current back up choices reaching the twilight of their careers.
If Flint did move to Sunderland this summer, he would do so after making 124 league appearances for Bristol City, scoring on 23 occasions.
