Report: Sunderland want Watford’s Jerome Sinclair on loan

Sunderland are reportedly hoping that they may be able to sign Watford striker Jerome Sinclair on loan this summer.

According to a report from the Sunderland Echo, Sunderland are interested in pursuing a potential loan deal for Watford striker Jerome Sinclair this summer as Jack Ross looks to keep the new signings coming through the Stadium of Light door.

It has been an incredibly busy window for the Black Cats. Following a change in ownership and management, the club have brought in nine new faces on permanent deals ahead of their first campaign in the third tier since 1987/88.

One area of the squad that still looks particularly light however, is up front. Ross is yet to sign a new striker and has seen players such as Fabio Borini and Joel Asoro move off the books.

However, he is seemingly hoping to rectify that situation with a move for a Premier League forward, with the Sunderland Echo reporting that Watford ace Sinclair is a loan target for the club.

The Sunderland Echo adds that Sunderland want to sign two new strikers, with Charlie Wyke and Billy Sharp also on their shortlist with the League One season emerging swiftly on the horizon.

Sinclair has endured a difficult time since moving to Vicarage Road from Liverpool for a fee of £4 million in 2016, as reported by BBC Sport. He has made just nine appearances in the top flight and is still awaiting his first league goal for the Hornets.

It would be little surprise if a loan bid does tempt Javi Gracia this summer, but whether he will want Sinclair to be playing in League One next term remains to be seen.

But, while Sinclair has not exactly captured the imagination in the top flight, he appears to have the potential to make a devastating impact for the Black Cats if Ross manages to get somewhere with his potential loan bid for the 21-year-old.
