Sunderland are said to be keen on Hearts forward Kyle Lafferty.

Sunderland are keen to improve their forward line this month, and clearly need to add more options, but Lafferty is not the right man to fire them to safety.

Lafferty may have a credible scoring record in Scotland, but he has struggled to find the back of the net whenever he has played in the Championship previously.
The Northern Irish international has previously hit just 13 goals in 118 appearances in England’s second tier, which suggests he just won’t have the quality to get Sunderland out of trouble.

The Black Cats really need to find a proven goalscorer at Championship level, if they are to make it out of the bottom three.
And, while that task is very challenging on Chris Coleman’s limited budget, they should overlook Lafferty, as they simply need better.
