Sunderland are set to make another move for Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill.

According to the Northern Echo, Sunderland boss Simon Grayson wants to bring Jordan Hugill to the Stadium of Light next.

Preston North End forward Hugill is one of Grayson’s top targets, as the new Sunderland boss looks to strengthen his squad.

Grayson worked with Hugill at Preston last season, and managed to get the best out of the target-man striker.

And Sunderland are now attempting to get a deal over the line for the powerful forward in the near future.

Sunderland have already had bids rejected for Hugill this summer, but feel they are better placed to get a deal over the line now.

The Black Cats have recently sold Jeremain Lens, which has boosted their transfer budget.

Sunderland drew their first match of the season 1-1 against Derby County, and their performance in the contest was encouraging.

Sunderland started with Lewis Grabban and James Vaughan as their two strikers in the fixture against the Rams.
