Report: Sunderland to offer £500,000 for Jason Steele, £3m for Ryan Woods

Blackburn Rovers’ Jason Steele and Brentford’s Ryan Woods are reportedly on Sunderland’s radar in the summer transfer window.

Sunderland are interested in signing Jason Steele from Blackburn Rovers in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 59, July 23, 2017).

It has been reported that Sunderland manager Simon Grayson will offer Blackburn £500,000 plus extras in order to secure the services of the 26-year-old goalkeeper.

Blackburn will play in League One next season after getting relegated from the Championship at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

Sunderland are in the market for a new goalkeeper, having sold Jordan Pickford and Vito Mannone to Everton and Reading respectively in the summer transfer window.

Steele, who is 26 years of age, is an experienced goalkeeper and was on the books of Middlesbrough from 2003 until 2015 before switching to Blackburn.

Meanwhile, Sunderland manager Grayson has increased his offer for Brentford star Ryan Woods to £3 million, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 59, July 23, 2017).

Woods is 23 years of age and can operate as a midfielder or as a defender, and is one of the best players at Championship club Brentford.

Sunderland will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
