The 45-year-old has done an impressive job since taking charge at Aberdeen.
McInnes led the Dons to second place in the Scottish Premiership, and also guided them to the Scottish Cup final.
Aberdeen’s form has caught the eye of Sunderland bosses, who are now keen to bring McInnes to the North East.

Sunderland’s board will now meet with McInnes in the next two days, to discuss his vision for the club.
It is said that McInnes is intrigued by the Sunderland job, and would be keen to take the post, if it is offered to him.
Sunderland are under pressure to get their next managerial appointment right, as they aim to earn promotion straight back to the Premier League table.
