Sunderland have reportedly agreed to sign free agent defender Emmanuel Eboue.
According to a report from ESPN, Sunderland have agreed a deal to sign free agent defender Emmanuel Eboue on a deal until the end of the season.
The Black Cats have had long-standing issues at right back, as summer signing Adam Matthews has done little since signing from Celtic, DeAndre Yedlin has been hit-and-miss having arrived on loan from Tottenham, whilst Billy Jones has had some shaky recent performances.
Now, it seems that manager Sam Allardyce – who was busy in January by signing the likes of Lamine Kone, Jan Kirchhoff, Wahbi Khazri and Dame N’Doye – is ready to make a move to solve that problem by signing Emmanuel Eboue.
The Ivorian, 32, has been on trial with Sunderland recently, and played in an Under-21 game against Leicester City earlier this week, in a bid to impress manager Allardyce.
Formerly of Arsenal, Eboue is a free agent having left Galatasaray last summer, and could now be on the verge of a Premier League return.
ESPN report that Sunderland have now agreed a deal to sign Eboue on a contract until the end of the season, with Allardyce no doubt seeing him as a player with valuable experience as Sunderland battle valiantly against relegation to the Championship.
