Sunderland are reportedly keen on Bristol City’s Matty Taylor.

According to The Chronicle, Sunderland are eyeing up Bristol City’s Matty Taylor as a backup plan if they can’t sign Wigan Athletic’s Will Grigg.
It promises to be a busy day at Sunderland today, with Lewis Morgan’s arrival from Celtic unlikely to be the only deal done at the Stadium of Light.
Strikers are what Jack Ross needs; he needed one heading into the window, and he may need two now top scorer Josh Maja has moved on to Bordeaux.
Wigan’s Grigg has been a prime target for weeks now, but with the transfer window inside its last 24 hours, Sunderland are having to consider alternatives.
The Chronicle claim that Sunderland are now eyeing up Bristol City’s Matty Taylor, viewing him as a potential target if they can’t land Grigg today.
Taylor, 28, has a superb record in League One having hit 16 goals in 27 third-tier games for Bristol Rovers in the 2016-17 season, before his controversial move to Bristol City.

However, he has hit just eight goals in 58 games for the Robins, and may drop back down to League One again if Sunderland do come calling.
With 27 League Two goals in the 2015-16 season, Taylor clearly knows where the net is, but with consistent playing time at Bristol City hard to come by, he hasn’t been able to show it.
