Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is still keen on strengthening his forward options.

According to the Sunderland Echo, Sunderland are still interested in completing deals for Jordan Hugill and Ross McCormack, despite lengthy negotiations for the pair.

Sunderland are trying to sign Hugill on a permanent deal from Preston North End, and they want McCormack on loan from Aston Villa.

However, getting transfers for the pair over the line has proven problematic.

Sunderland have failed to agree on a price with Preston for Hugill, but discussions are continuing.

Villa, meanwhile, are known to be keen to offload McCormack, but paying his wages is difficult for Sunderland.

Simon Grayson is clearly keen to improve his forward options at the Stadium of Light, even though his side have made a positive beginning to the campaign.

Sunderland remain unbeaten after three Championship fixtures, and there is a quiet optimism starting to form around the Wearside club.

Grayson has been using Lewis Grabban and James Vaughan as his two strikers over the early part of the campaign.
