Report: Sunderland still targeting Lyle Taylor despite Chris Maguire addition, hopeful of deal

New Sunderland boss Jack Ross is attempting to bring two new strikers to the Stadium of Light this summer.

According to the Northern Echo, Sunderland still want another addition up-front, despite signing Chris Maguire.

Sunderland finally made their first two additions of the summer yesterday, with Maguire and on McLaughlin signing on at the Stadium of Light.

Maguire’s arrival strengthens Jack Ross’s options up-front considerably, and brings with him a wealth of League One experience to Sunderland.

However, Sunderland are not yet finished with their additions in attack, with another striker targeted.

Lyle Taylor is their top choice, and Sunderland believe the contract that they have offered him is an attractive one.

Taylor netted 14 goals in League One last term, but is available on a free transfer this summer.

Sunderland have a great deal of competition for the powerful forward, with his current club, AFC Wimbledon, among the teams to have offered him a new deal.

Sunderland realise there is a need to improve their forward options, as they look to ensure Ross has enough firepower to get them out of the league at the first attempt.
