Sunderland have been linked with Marcus Maddison at Peterborough United for a considerable amount of time now.

According to the Chronicle, Sunderland still may make a move for Marcus Maddison in January.
Sunderland have been linked with Peterborough United attacker Maddison for well over a year now, but they have not pushed on with their interest as yet.
Sunderland felt Posh’s asking price of £2.5 million for Maddison was too expensive in the summer, given that he had just 12 months left on his contract.
However, it is suggested that if Peterborough reduce their demands, Sunderland could now make a move in two months’ time.
Posh have still not been able to tie down Maddison to a new deal, but owner Darragh MacAnthony has been defiant about keeping his side’s star man so far.

It seems unlikely that Peterborough would be keen to sell Maddison to Sunderland midway through the season, given that the two sides seem set to fight it out for promotion with each other – Posh are currently in third place, while Sunderland are in ninth in the League One table.
Maddison has been a crucial part of Peterborough’s success so far, and has scored six goals and claimed six assists in just 11 appearances in the league to date.
