Sunderland are apparently still interested in securing the services of Italian international Stefano Okaka.

According to reports from Tutto Mercato, Sunderland are still in the hunt to sign Stefano Okaka from Anderlecht.

Sunderland have endured a very frustrating time in the transfer window so far this summer and many feel that the squad assembled at the Stadium of Light is not good enough to stave off relegation from the Premier League this time around.

Nonetheless, manager David Moyes is still hopeful of strengthening his squad during the final week of the transfer window and signing a new striker will surely be a priority for the Scotsman.

It was reported earlier this month that Sunderland had identified Anderlecht striker Stefano Okaka as a target and that the move coming into fruition was a real possibility as the 27-year-old is allegedly keen on leaving the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium following public criticism from the club regarding his weight (HITC).

Evidently such a move has not come into fruition as of yet but now according to reports from Tutto Mercato, claims have been made that Sunderland are still interested in signing Okaka.

Moyes is believed to be very keen on landing the services of the Italian international this summer but an agreement has not been reached despite protracted negotiations.

Okaka scored an impressive 15 goals in 35 appearances for Anderlecht last season and if Sunderland can finally reach an agreement for the striker, the deal could really boost their hopes of avoiding relegation this season.
