According to the Guardian (live transfer thread, 30 August 2016 at 11:59), Sunderland are still in talks with Manchester City over a loan deal for defender Jason Denayer.
The Black Cats have already bolstered their defence with the arrival of Papy Djilobdji this summer, yet with Lamine Kone’s future still in question it appears they are seeking alternatives.
The Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a move to Everton, and while Moyes is intent on keeping him at the Stadium of Light, a big offer in the next 24 hours could leave the club with little choice.
Denayer joined City from the JMG academy in the summer of 2013 and originally played in the club’s developemnt side, helping the Citizens’ U21s reach the final of the Premier League Cup.
The 21-year-old has since had loan spells with Scottish Premiership side Celtic and Turkish giants Galatasary, and now it seems he is ready for consistent Premier League action.
City have plenty od centre-backs on their books maning the player’s chances of regular action at the Etihad Stadium are sim, suggesting the cub are happy for him to go out again on loan.

Sunderland, regardless of whether Kone leaves, have scope to bring in another defender before the deadline and the Belgium international represents a cheap and decent proposition.
The Guardian also mention the Wearside club are still in the market for a striker and goalkeeper, but their next signing could be Denayer on a season-long loan deal.
