Sunderland are reportedly still keen to sign Aristote Nsiala, who was a player Chris Coleman had considered for the Black Cats.
The Black Cats are yet to bring in a new signing, but there has been a lot of change at the club with new owners coming in and Ross arriving as Chris Coleman’s successor.
But while there may be a change of manager, it appears that Ross may have a name on his summer wishlist that Coleman would have also included had he stuck around, with the Mirror (13/06; 17:45) reporting that Shrewsbury defender Nsiala is being considered this summer.
The 26-year-old only joined the Shrews in 2017 but has quickly established himself as a key man for the club, making 47 league appearances this past season as the side reached the League One play-off final before seeing their Championship dreams dashed by Rotherham United.
It is not clear how high on Ross’s wishlist Nsiala finds himself, but he would arguably be a very good signing if the Black Cats could get him through the door this summer.
The former Everton trainee is capable of playing at right-back or centre-back and after such a fantastic season with Shrewsbury, his arrival may prove to be a huge boost to a Sunderland side that will be hoping to follow their back-to-back relegations by securing promotion at the first time of asking.
