Report: Sunderland still confident of landing Will Grigg from Wigan Athletic

Jack Ross has made Will Grigg Sunderland’s top target to bring in this month.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Sunderland’s recruitment team are confident that they can sign Will Grigg from Wigan Athletic.

Sunderland have seen four bids for Grigg rejected already this month, but the striker remains Jack Ross’ top target.

And the Black Cats are still hopeful that they can get a deal done, despite only having a limited amount of time left to sort out a deal.

Grigg has been a prolific scorer at League One level throughout his career, and is seen as Sunderland’s first choice replacement for Josh Maja.

Maja had been leading Sunderland’s scoring charts this term, but was sold to Bordeaux earlier this month.

Grigg has seen his game time at Wigan limited this term, and Sunderland still believe that they can prise him away from the Championship side.

Sunderland are next in action against AFC Wimbledon, when Ross will be hoping that Grigg is a part of his match day squad.
