According to a report in the Northern Echo, Sunderland are prepared to quadruple Jack Ross’ wages to convince him to move to the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland are said to be confident of landing the St. Mirren boss in the next 48 hours.

Sunderland are willing to pay £50,000 in compensation for the Scot and increase his wages by a considerable amount.

Jack Ross manager of Alloa Athletic waves during the Betfred League Cup Group match between Raith Rovers and Alloa Athletic at Stark's Park on July 30, 2016 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.

If Ross does join the Black Cats, he will reportedly sign a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

Ross has impressed Sunderland’s new owner Stewart Donald with the work he has done in Scotland with St. Mirren.

The 41-year-old boss guided St. Mirren to promotion this past season, as they dominated the Scottish Championship.

The task facing Ross at Sunderland is a monumental one though, as he looks to stabilise the club.

Sunderland have suffered back-to-back relegations and big changes are expected on Wearside this summer.
