Report: Sunderland reject second bid for Paddy McNair from Brighton

Sunderland star Paddy McNair is reportedly wanted by Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.

Sunderland have turned down a second offer from Brighton and Hove Albion for former Manchester United youngster Paddy McNair, according to Sky Sports.

It has been reported that Premier League club Brighton’s second offer of £3.5 million for McNair has been turned down by Sunderland, who will play in League One next season after getting relegated from the Championship.

The Seagulls reportedly had an initial £2m bid for the Northern Ireland international rejected, with Sky Sports claiming that the Black Cats are looking for upwards of £4 million for the 23-year-old, who can also operate as a defender or as a midfielder.

According to Sky Sports, Sunderland have also rejected an offer of £3.75m for McNair from an an unnamed London club.

Inevitable exit?

McNair is one of the best players on the books of Sunderland at the moment, and it is almost inevitable that he will leave the Stadium of Light this summer.

It is hard to see the former United man play in League One next season, given his quality and talent.

McNair has been on the books of Sunderland since the summer of 2016 when he moved from United, and signed when David Moyes was in charge of the Black Cats.
