According to a report in the Northern Echo, Sunderland have a strong chance of agreeing a deal for Tottenham Hotspur defender DeAndre Yedlin.
As thing stand, Sunderland are willing to offer Spurs £3 million for the 22-year-old American, but that bid is short of the valuation Mauricio Pochettino’s side have put on the right-back.
Tottenham want £6 million for the full-back, but the Northern Echo believe that a compromise will be met.
Sunderland have made Yedlin one of their top targets this summer, as Sam Allardyce looks to strengthen his squad.
The Black Cats are yet to make a signing yet, but they are expected to invest over the coming weeks.
Yedlin spent time on loan at Sunderland last season, and he improved throughout the campaign.
The youngster made a rather shaky start, but he was in fine form as Sunderland avoided relegation.
Yedlin’s chances of breaking through at Tottenham appear limited, with both Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier both ahead of him in the selection order.
