Sunderland finally severed their ties with Ndong at the start of this week.
Didier Ndong has agreed to pay Sunderland compensation upon signing for another club.
And according to the Daily Mirror, the figure the Mackems stand to receive is €4 million (around £3.5 million).
That figure is almost four times less than the £13 million Sunderland paid to sign Ndong from Lorient in August 2016, and less than half the £8 million they were due to bank had the midfielder moved to Torino in the summer.
It is however a windfall which would be greatly received by a club whose manager admitted to having reached his spending limit during the previous transfer window.
The only obvious catch is that Ndong, who failed to show after said deal collapsed and had his ties finally severed by Sunderland at the start of this week, can only sign for a club whose transfer window is open.
