Sunderland are reportedly battling Swansea City for the signature of Leicester City’s Leonardo Ulloa.
According to The Mirror, Sunderland are set to make a January move to sign Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa – but will face competition from Swansea City.
Ulloa, 30, was Leicester’s marquee summer signing when they won promotion to the Premier League back in 2014, having scored 26 goals in 58 games for Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Argentinian hit 11 goals in his debut Premier League season, but scored just six times last season as he played more of a bit-part role in Leicester’s stunning Premier League title win – and his playing time hasn’t improved this season.
With summer signings Ahmed Musa and Islam Silmani adding to Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki, Ulloa is now Leicester’s fifth-choice striker, starting just once in all competitions this season, and even that came in the EFL Cup.

The target man will fancy his chances of playing first-team football elsewhere, and The Mirror claim that Sunderland want to snap up Ulloa in January to aid their fight against relegation.
The Black Cats sit joint-bottom of the Premier League table with just five points from 11 games, and have scored only nine goals, meaning they’re the only team left in the top flight yet to hit double figures this season.

Jermain Defoe needs help in attack, and adding a physical target man like Ulloa could be the perfect foil, and it’s claimed that manager David Moyes has identified Ulloa as a January transfer target.
Ulloa would allegedly cost around £9m, but Sunderland may face some competition, as Swansea City – the other team that sit at the foot of the table with just five points – are also credited with an interest in Ulloa, despite signing physical strikers in Borja Baston and Fernando Llorente over the summer.
