Sunderland are trying to convince their man to stay amid interest from Everton.
According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland have offered Lamine Kone a new £70,000-per-week deal to ward off interest from Everton.
The defender was a big hit at the Stadium of Light last summer after completing a move in the January transfer window.
He played a major part in improving their performances in the second half of the season and helped them to avoid relegation from the Premier League under former boss Sam Allardyce.
His form has caught the attention of new Everton manager Ronald Koeman, who is thought to be keen to take him to Merseyside this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, he is willing to pay £16 million for his services, and the defender is considering his options now that Allardyce has left to join England.
New Black Cats boss David Moyes is keen to keep him though and has offered him a new improved deal worth £70,000-per-week to keep him at the club this summer.
It now remains to be seen if he accepts that offer or pushes for a move to Goodison Park, with the project on Merseyside sure to be a tempting one to join should the chance be offered.
