Sunderland were reportedly an option for Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah in the summer of 2017.
It has been reported that Villa manager Steve Bruce was open to letting Adomah leave on loan last summer after he signed Ahmed Elmohamady and Robert Snodgrass.
Joining Sunderland, then in the Championship, on loan for Adomah was an option, but a move to the Black Cats did not appeal to the 30-year-old former Middlesbrough winger, according to The Birmingham Mail.
Staying at Aston Villa
Adomah did well for Villa in the Championship last season and played an important role in the Villans’ march to the playoff final.
The Ghana international winger made 37 starts and made five substitute appearances in the Championship for Villa during the 2017-18 campaign, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
Adomah has been on the books of Villa since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Middlesbrough for a transfer fee reported by Gazette Live to be worth £5 million.
Meanwhile, Sunderland endured a hugely disappointing Championship campaign in 2017-18 and got relegated to League One.
