Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is keen for a reunion with West Ham United’s Robert Snodgrass at the Stadium of Light next season.
Sunderland feel that Snodgrass could be a great addition, but complications exist in any deal.
West Ham United are keen to offload Snodgrass this summer, just six months after signing him from Hull City.
However, West Ham are looking for an £8 million fee – and that is out of Sunderland’s reach.
The Black Cats, instead, are eager to take Snodgrass on loan, with a view to making the move permanent at the end of the season.
Sunderland realise that they are likely to face competition for Snodgrass, but feel that they may have an advantage in the race for the Scotland international, due to his relationship with Simon Grayson.
The Black Cats new boss worked with Snodgrass earlier in their respective careers at Leeds United.
Snodgrass made 15 Premier League appearances for West Ham last term, but failed to hit the back of the net.
