According to The Scottish Sun, Sunderland have jumped to the front of the queue to sign Hibernian striker Kevin Nisbet.
It’s claimed that Sunderland have approached Hibernian to learn just how much they would be seeking for Nisbet.
Lee Johnson is keen to add a new striker to his Sunderland squad, but Jack Ross – a former Sunderland boss himself – wants Nisbet to stay.
A host of other English clubs are keen, and The Scottish Sun reported just last week that Sheffield United were interested in luring him to the Premier League.
Sunderland are thought to have jumped to the front of the queue though, with Hibernian surely in line for a big profit on the £250,000 they spent on Nisbet just last summer.
The 23-year-old arrived from Dunfermline after 23 goals last season, and he has made a fine start with Hibs having hit 12 goals in 26 outings.

Nisbet has shown that he is quick, strong and can be a real poacher, which has seemingly sparked Sunderland’s interest.
Beating a Premier League club to Nisbet’s signature would be a huge coup for Sunderland, but whether Ross and Hibs will be receptive to their approach remains to be seen.
