Sunderland may be hoping that the 24-year-old can bring some much-needed creativity to their ranks.

A report in The Irish Sun has claimed that Sunderland have joined Championship side Ipswich Town in the race to sign Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan.
The Tractor Boys as well as two MLS outfits have been keeping their eye on the 24-year-old, according to The Irish Sun, but it appears that they may be about to face an uphill battle if they hope to sign him.

That is because The Irish Sun is now reporting that the Black Cats have also been alerted to the one-time Republic of Ireland under-21 international, and have sent scouts to two of Dundalk’s games this season to have a look at the wide-man.
Depending on which games they have travelled to, it seems likely that they would have been impressed by what they saw from Horgan.

After 29 games, Dundalk are currently situated at the top of the League of Ireland table and look to be well on course to secure their third consecutive title.
And Horgan has been an integral part of that success. His eight goals makes him the second highest goalscorer within the squad this term.
And with Sunderland still bottom of the Premier League table, having failed to win and having scored just six goals along the way, David Moyes may view Horgan as a player who has the potential to make a much-needed impact in their bid for survival.
