Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing Chris Maguire from relegated Bury.

New owner, Stewart Donald, has spoken candidly to the Roker Report podcast about the summer’s transfer plans and two strikers are believed to be on the radar.

One of those is Wimbledon’s Lyle Taylor and the other is Maguire, who could be looking for a way out of Gigg Lane following the Shakers’ relegation to League Two.
Although the 29-year-old can play as a number nine he is a versatile attacker, with the ability to also operate on either wing and as an attacking midfielder.

How much it would cost to land Maguire is unknown, with the Scotland international having only joined Bury from Oxford United in the summer of 2017.
The Aberdeen academy product started his career in his native Scotland, but has played south of the border since 2011 and has significant League One and Championship experience from his time with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United and Portsmouth.
