The Polish goalkeeper could be a useful addition to the Sunderland squad this summer.

New Black Cats boss Simon Grayson is interested in bringing Blues stopper Tomasz Kuszczak to the Stadium of Light this summer, according to Birmingham Vital Football News.

The 35-year-old Poland international is expected to face fierce competition for the number one spot at St Andrews this season, following the arrival of David Stockdale two weeks ago.

Whether he is willing to stick around and fight for his place remains to be seen, but the opportunity to link up with Grayson on Wearside could be a tempting one for the Pole.

Birmingham Vital Football News claim that Kuszczak is attracting interest from Sunderland, and that he could be picked up for as little as £500,000 – something that will surely appeal to the Black Cats, considering the limited funds available to them.

The goalkeeping position will be an area of concern for the Sunderland boss this summer, after Jordan Pickford left to join Everton last month.

And whilst the addition of the experienced Birmingham goalkeeper doesn’t seem like the most inspiring of signings, it would certainly plug a hole for this season, as the Wearside outfit look to bounce straight back to the Premier League.
