Reading striker Marc McNulty is reportedly on the radar of Sunderland.

Marc McNulty of Reading scores his team's first goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Reading and Stoke City at Madejski Stadium on December 01, 2018 in Reading, England.

Sunderland are interested in signing Marc McNulty from Reading in the January transfer window, according to The Northern Echo.

It has been reported that the League One club have an ongoing interest in the 26-year-old striker.

Stats

McNulty has been on the books of Reading since the summer of 2018 when he joined from Coventry City.

The striker has failed to make a huge impact at the Royals, and has scored just one goal in 412 minutes in the Championship so far this season, according to WhoScored.

The 26-year-old, though, does have a strong record in the lower leagues, as he scored 23 goals in 42 League Two appearances for Coventry during the 2017-18 campaign, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Marc McNulty of Reading shoots during the Carabao Cup Second Round match between Reading and Watford at Madejski Stadium on August 29, 2018 in Reading, England.

Promotion push

Sunderland are aiming to finish in the top two of the League One table this season and clinch automatic promotion to the Championship.

Jack Ross’s side are third in the league table at the moment with 52 points from 26 matches, five points behind leaders Portsmouth, who have played 27 games.
