Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing Andrea Ranocchia.

According to reports from the Sunderland Echo, Sunderland manager Simon Grayson could move for Italian defender Andrea Ranocchia this summer.

The Black Cats are going through a rebuilding process under Grayson, and are looking to sign a central defender this summer.

Financially the Black Cats are stretched and probably that is why Grayson is struggling to bring in more players.

Andrea Ranocchia of Inter Milan arrives at Changi International Airport ahead of the International Champions Cup on July 25, 2017 in Singapore.

Lamine Kone is likely to leave the club before the transfer window closes. The Ivorian defender featured consistently ever since Grayson arrived, but he could be heading towards Besiktas instead.

The report says that Sunderland could move for Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia, who spent the last season on loan at Hull City.

He made 16 Premier League appearances for the Tigers and scored two goals.

The 29-year-old defender has made 21 appearances for the Italy national team, and is an experienced defender.

He is undoubtedly a quality player and would be a tremendous signing for the Black Cats, but it is highly unlikely that he’d drop to play in the Championship.
