Sunderland have been heavily linked with a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ben Marshall.
Marshall is wanted by a whole host of clubs, but Sunderland are right at the front of the queue.
Sunderland are said to be willing to offer Marshall a permanent move, which many clubs that are after the midfielder are not prepared to do.
Wolves would rather offload Marshall permanently, rather than on loan.
And it is said that Sunderland are now in with a strong chance of landing the Wolves man.
At the moment, it looks most likely that the Black Cats will take Marshall on loan, with an obligation to buy him at the end of the season.
Marshall has barely featured for Wolves this term, and appears to have no future at Molineux, but his form at this level previously, shows that he can be a major threat.
