Scott Fraser is keen on joining Sunderland this summer, while the Wearside giants have also held talks with ex-Blackburn Rovers striker Danny Graham, according to reports from the North East.
With a lack of quality in the final third costing the Black Cats a place in the play-offs last season, Sunderland are hard at work ensuring that history does not repeat itself in 2020/21.
The Black Cats have already pulled off a real coup of a signing by landing free-agent Aiden O’Brien, a former Millwall forward with an impressive track record at League One level.
According to the Echo, O’Brien could be joined at the Stadium of Light by a man who has unfinished business in the north east.
Graham flopped spectacularly after he joined Sunderland from Swansea in 2013, failing to justify his £6 million price-tag with just one goal in 37 Premier League games.

Four years at Blackburn have helped Graham rebuild his reputation, however, and reports suggest that Sunderland would happily overlook his disastrous first spell in red and white stripes.
Talks are underway with a 34-year-old whose 14 League One goals fired Rovers to promotion as recently as 2018.
Fraser also finds himself without a club but, with teams all over the Football League showing an interest, the former Burton Albion talisman won’t be on the breadline for long.
The Chronicle claims that the speedy Scottish forward would jump at the chance to sign for Sunderland, although he would have to reduce his wage demands in an era of budget cuts and salary caps.
Fraser produced nine goals and 14 assists in 2019/20.
