Taylor, 28, joined AFC Wimbledon from Scunthorpe United in the summer of 2015, and hit 20 goals in League Two to help the club win promotion, before immediately grabbing 10 goals in League One.
Last term, the Montserrat international scored 14 goals in 46 League One outings, but has chosen to move on and join another club with his contract expiring this summer.
Sunderland are thought to be in talks with Taylor in an attempt to land a proven League One hitman for free, but they aren’t alone in pursing the former Bournemouth man’s signature.
It’s claimed that rivals Charlton Athletic, Peterborough United and Southend United are also keen to sign Taylor, and Sunderland will be hoping to win the race and see the striker fire them back to the Championship.
