Sunderland reportedly had their eye on Jayden Stockley, but Jack Ross has apparently focused his attention on another striker target.

The Black Cats need to strengthen their options up front. It has been a hectic window at the Stadium of Light, but Ross currently has few strikers to pick from and it appears that addressing that situation is now his focus.
Stockley scored 19 goals as Exeter City reached the League Two play-off final last season and 24 in all competitions, and there is now a queue of clubs forming looking to bag his signature.

Sky Sports reports that Preston North End and Ipswich Town had wanted to bring the 24-year-old to the Championship, while MK Dons – who are now managed by the forward’s former Exeter boss, Paul Tisdale – are also interested as he enters the final year of his contract at St James Park.
Wyke may have scored his goals at a higher level, but it would probably be a surprise if Sunderland did retain some sort of interest in Stockley given his form for the Grecians.
But perhaps, their apparent reluctance to concentrate their attention on Stockley may be down to the level of interest in him – especially with teams in the division above having a look. Either way, Wyke or Stockley could be superb additions to Sunderland’s squad for the coming campaign.
