Sunderland have had their bid for George Evans accepted by Reading, according to The Reading Chronicle.

It has been reported that Reading have accepted Sunderland’s offer of around £250,000 for Evans.

The report has also claimed that the 23-year-old midfielder will make the move from the Championship club to the League One outfit within the next few days.

Good move for Sunderland?

Evans is a versatile footballer who can operate as a midfielder or as a central defender, and the 23-year-old would be a good signing for Sunderland.

The Black Cats needs young and hungry players like Evans to get promoted from League One to the Championship next season.

The former Manchester City prospect would be a smart long-term signing for Sunderland, especially for the reported fee of £250,000.

Evans made nine starts and nine substitute appearances in the Championship for Reading last season, scoring one goal in the process.

During the 2016-17 campaign, the youngster made 27 starts and 11 substitute appearances in the Championship for the Royals, scoring two goals and proving two assists in the process.
