Sunderland may face a battle trying to keep hold of Vito Mannone as The Sun reports that Serie A side Genoa want to sign the goalkeeper during the January transfer window.
The Sun reports that Genoa are looking to bolster their options between the sticks having lost Mattia Perrin to injury for the rest of the season, and have earmarked the Italian as a potential target.
Sunderland’s Vito Mannone
The 28-year-old had been a key player for the Black Cats for much of his time at the Stadium of Light and it appeared that he may maintain that status under David Moyes.
However, the emergence of Jordan Pickford has resulted in the former Arsenal man having to settle for a role much more on the periphery of the squad.

And while Mannone has returned to the first-team in recent times due to the injury of Pickford, and appears to have a good chance of staying there over the coming weeks (via Guardian), it would hardly be a surprise if he considered the potential move to Genoa seriously.
Pickford has been exceptional this season, so Mannone will know that only a brilliant run of form is likely to do enough to possibly convince Moyes that he deserves to keep his place after his young teammate returns to action.
