The Tunisia international has made it clear he doesn’t want to play in the Championship and Fenerbahce could spare him that.

Sunderland attacker Wahbi Khazri could soon get his wish of avoiding playing football in the Championship, with news that Turkish giants Fenerbahce are interested in taking him on loan, as reported by AMKSpor and covered by Sport Witness.
The 26-year-old had a torrid campaign at the Stadium of Light in the 2016/17 season, which saw Sunderland relegated from the Premier League, and ended the season with just one goal in 23 appearances in all competitions, registering no assists at all.

However, it appears that his poor form hasn’t put off any potential buying clubs, and after Khazri claimed that he didn’t want to play in the Championship, French side Marseille were allegedly interested, as reported by Chronicle Live.
As of yet, nothing has come from that, though it seems that Fenerbahce – who had a deal for Khazri blocked by then Sunderland boss David Moyes last summer – are to offer to take the player on loan for a season as they look to strengthen their wide areas.

It is believed that Khazri cost Sunderland £9m when they signed him from Bordeaux in the January transfer window of the 2015/16 season, as reported by the Guardian, and it remains to be seen whether they’ll accept any loan bid for Khazri or try to recoup some of what they forked out for him.
Sunderland are currently managerless following the resignation of David Moyes at the end of the season, and will look to bounce back from their relegation with an immediate promotion from the Championship.
