Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie is reportedly wanted by Sunderland and Aberdeen.

Ryan Christie poses as Celtic's new signing at Celtic Park on September 1, 2015 in Gascube, Glasgow, Scotland.

Sunderland are facing competition from Aberdeen for Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie, according to The Sunderland Echo.

It has been reported that Sunderland have enquired about Christie, who is claimed to be available on loan in the summer transfer window.

The report has also claimed that Celtic’s Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen want to secure the services of the Scotland international midfielder this summer.

Advantage Aberdeen?

Sunderland are a big club, but this season the Black Cats are playing in League One – the third tier of English football.

Playing in such a lower division in England may not appeal to Christie, who, at the moment, is at one of the biggest clubs in the world in Celtic.

Ryan Christie of Aberdeen controls the ball during the Partick Thistle and Aberdeen Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match at Firhill Arena on March 10, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Having spent the past 18 months on loan at Aberdeen and having been successful during his spell at the Pittodrie Stadium, the former Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder could be tempted to go back to Derek McInnes’s side for the 2018-19 campaign.

Aberdeen probably have the advantage over Sunderland in their reported chase for Christie.

Ryan Christie is seen during a training session prior to the International Friendly match between Scotland and Costa Rica at Orium Sports Centr on March 19, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.
