Celtic winger Lewis Morgan could reportedly be offered the chance to head to Sunderland on loan this month.
Morgan has endured a difficult start to life with the Bhoys. Few expected the 22-year-old to establish himself as an important player in the side immediately, but Brendan Rodgers is yet to hand him a start in the Scottish Premiership, with all nine of his top flight appearances coming from the bench.
Celtic have bolstered their ranks in wide areas already this month, with Oliver Burke joining the Premiership champions on loan for the rest of the campaign.
And it appears that Burke’s arrival could free up Morgan to leave until the summer. The Daily Star reports that the 22-year-old could be given the green light to leave on loan, and Jack Ross is keen to take him to the Stadium of Light.
Ross – who managed Morgan at St Mirren – is doing a fine job with the Black Cats. They appear to be in with a fantastic chance of making their stay in the third tier a very brief one, with Sunderland one point off the top two with a game in hand.
And adding Morgan to their ranks could prove to be an inspired piece of business if Ross manages to help the youngster rediscover the form that attracted Celtic’s attention in the first place before they spent £300,000 on him (via Daily Record). The wide-man scored 18 goals during his final year with St Mirren, so certainly has the potential to impress the Hoops if he does leave on loan.
