Sunderland have joned Southampton in the race to sign the Italian hitman according to reports.
Reports emanating from Italy today suggest that the Black Cats have joined the Saints in the race to sign Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, according to Italian media outlet TuttoSport.
Sunderland are currently in a whole world of trouble, rooted firmly to the bottom of the Premier League table, but all is not lost for David Moyes’ men, with just three points separating them from 17th placed Swansea City.

There is no question though that Moyes needs to improve his squad during the final few days of the transfer window, if he is to guide them safely away from trouble.
And TuttoSport claim that the Wearsiders have entered the race to sign the six-capped Italy international striker, armed with the funds they will receive one the sale of Patrick van Aanholt is completed.

Gabbiadini would be the ideal striker partner for Jermain Defoe, and his technical ability along with his intelligent running could prove to be a fantastic foil for the 34-year-old Englishman.
One potential problem the Black Cats could face, however, will be convincing the Italian to leave Serie A for a relegation dogfight in England.
