Sunderland are believed to be weighing up making a bid for Everton’s Tom Cleverley.
According to a report in the Telegraph, David Moyes could bid for Everton midfielder Tom Cleverley in the January transfer window.
Moyes is eager to strengthen his squad at the Stadium of Light, but has limited funds available to him.
The Black Cats do not have a big transfer budget to spend on new players, as they look to avoid the drop in the Premier League.
And Moyes has identified Everton’s Cleverley as a player who could be available for a relatively small fee.
Cleverley has not featured much for Everton this season, with Ronald Koeman seemingly having doubts over using the England international.
Everton are believed to be open to selling Cleverley this month, if they receive an acceptable bid.
Moyes knows all about Cleverley’s talents, having worked with the 27-year-old at Manchester United earlier in their respective careers.
If Sunderland do want to move for Cleverley, they will have to be quick about it though, as Sky Sports have suggested this morning that Everton have agreed a loan deal with Watford.
Sunderland are currently in 18th place in the Premier League table, just one point away from safety.
